As part of the public affairs arm of the U.S. Consulate in Duesseldorf, the press office informs the media about U.S. policies through a wide variety of services.
It coordinates media appointments in the NRW consular district for the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, the Consul General, and U.S. government officials. It also works closely with the Embassy to support high-level official visits to Germany and arranges interviews for U.S. experts with the German media. In addition, the press section regularly organizes press round tables that deal with current transatlantic issues.
Several documents are published daily, ranging from press releases to inform the media of U.S. government activities to full texts of important official documents such as treaties, policy papers and speeches. Backgrounders and summaries of U.S. views on important policy issues are also made available to media institutions on a regular basis. In addition, the Information Resource Center provides in-depth research assistance for media contacts.
The press section also cooperates closely with the U.S. Foreign Press Center in Washington to promote accurate and balanced foreign reporting from the U.S., by providing direct access to authoritative American information sources. |
