Consul General Attends Iftar in Cologne

October 10, 2007.
On October 10, Consul General Matt Boyse and Pol/Econ officer Desiree Humphreys attended an Iftar dinner hosted by the Association of Islamic Cultural Centers (VIKZ) in Cologne. The VIKZ is one of the four groups that make up the national umbrella organization, Coordination Council of Muslims in Germany (KRM). Addressing an audience of more than 100, included leaders of the most influential Islamic religious groups in Germany and regional interfaith leaders from NRW, as well as Minister of Transportation Oliver Wittke and Integration Commissioner Thomas Kufen representing the NRW government, the Consul General stressed USG interest in more substantive dialogue with Muslim communities and read the remarks that President Bush delivered at an Iftar Dinner, he hosted in the White House on October 5, as he has done every Ramadan in the seven years of his Presidency.
