September 1, 2005.
On September 1, U.S. Consul General George Knowles welcomed twenty U.S. and Russian recipients of the Humboldt Foundation’s Chancellor scholarships to an evening of Ragtime music performed by American pianist and composer Brett Youens. As part of his performance, Youens also explained the popular origins and continuing attractiveness of Ragtime as a quintessential American genre.
