June 26, 2007.
During a June 26 visit to the Gelsenkirchen steering division of the Livonia, Michigan-based TRW Corporation, plant manager Heinz Stupp (right) gave Consul General Matt Boyse a tour of his factory and an overview of the firm’s operations in Germany. The Gelsenkirchen plant, which employs 750 people and produces components for Ford, Opel, VW, BMW, Porsche and Audi, is one of some 20 TRW facilities in Germany employing some 12,000 persons. There are two additional TRW locations in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW): Duesseldorf and Krefeld. TRW received the Total Productive Maintenance Award in 2005 and the Lean Factory Award Germany-wide in 2006.
