Celebrating Germany’s contributions to the United States

October 14, 2007.
The German-American Friends of the Niederrhein celebrated German-American Day on October 14 at the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg, the 21st time the group has marked this event since late President Reagan established it in 1987. A USAREUR Quintet played jazz, swing and pop and German students who recently studied in the U.S. on scholarships provided by the Federation of German-American Clubs gave presentations of their experiences at American universities. In his address, CG Matt Boyse lauded the group’s outstanding contributions to citizen diplomacy – spreading goodwill and knowledge about both countries among youth and in the universities at a time when a sophisticated understanding of our respective societies and policies is as important as ever.
