A delegation representing the faculties of law, business, physics, economics, public health, history and international studies at the University of New Mexico (UNM), Albuquerque agreed on August 8 on a series of exchanges with the Fachhochschule fuer Oekonomie und Management (Neuss), the Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf, the North American Studies Program at the University of Bonn, and the Economics Faculity of the University of Cologne. Cooperation will begin with a physics seminar in spring 2008, followed by a summer program in 2008 for UNM students at the magnificent Schloss Dyck that will include legal issues such as intellectual property rights and patents and German/European studies. Students from German partner institutions will attend classes at the UNM Summer School. Consul General Matt Boyse spoke at the opening of the conference on August 6 on the subject of “Why the German-American Relationship?”, summarizing the many benefits that accrue to Germany and the United States of a strong partnership.
