"America @ your library" Collection Inaugurated at Duisburg Public Library

September 11, 2007
At a reception on September 11, Consul General Matthew Boyse and Lord Mayor Adolf Sauerland inaugurated an "America @ your library®" partnership at Duisburg public library. This library partnership provides financial support and a broad selection of books on American society and culture as well as other information materials. In this way, the collection responds to local information needs on the United States, especially the needs and interests of young people. In his remarks introducing the program, the CG remembered the victims of the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington with a moment of silence, and emphasized that the threat of terrorism will not prevent the United States from continuing important cultural exchange programs like this one. The U.S. Consulate will also cooperate with the Duisburg library in organizing workshops, readings and other cultural programs about the United States.
