December 5, 2006. On December 5, EducationUSA specialist Petra Spitz gave a presentation on the university system, application process and financial aid, followed by information on internships, voluntary work and Au Pair at the central public library in Dortmund. About 25 young adults participated in the event using the opportunity to ask specific questions on going to the United States, request advice on exchange opportunitites and pick up information materials. Under the America @ Your Library program the Dortmund library had received a book collection about the United States earlier this year, which also includes study guides and books about other educational opportunities in the U.S.
"America@your library®" is a partnership initiative between the U.S. Embassy in Berlin and public libraries in Germany. The Information Resource Centers in the Embassy and Consulates work with libraries to select books and other information material on the United States appropriate to local information needs. In addition, the Information Resource Centers work with participating libraries to develop workshops, readings and other cultural and outreach programs as well as web-based projects.
