Celebrating 25 Years of Sponsoring German Students to Study in America
January 12, 2008.
On January 12, Consul General Matt Boyse welcomed 65 leaders, friends and alumni of the Connecticut-based high school exchange program ASSIST to his Residence to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the ASSIST "Foerderverein," the Germany-based group that supports this program financially. Over the past 40 years, ASSIST has sent several thousand German 11th graders for a year of study at some of America's best boarding schools, with full or substantial scholarships. The event reinforced teh importance of the "life changing experience" a year of study abroad often involves.
